The popular period drama Bridgerton will return to Netflix with its third season in May 2024, the streamer announced on Tuesday.

The trailer promises the return of many beloved characters, including Queen Charlotte, Lady Danbury, Violet, Eloise Bridgerton, and the infamous gossip writer Lady Whistledown.

The Shondaland series also stars Jonathan Bailey, Simone Ashley, Phoebe Dynevor, Regé-Jean Page, Golda Rosheuvel, and Adjoa Andoh.

While Season 1 of Bridgerton (released in December 2020) explored the steaming romance between Daphne and Simon, Season 2 (released in March 2022) was all about Viscount Anthony falling in love.

Why is the release of Bridgerton Season 3 delayed?

According to a report, Shonda Rhimes (producer of Bridgerton) wasn’t happy with parts of season three’s plot because it got “very dark.”.

Concerning the postponement, they continued, saying, “We have been informed that it needs the fun back, so there are changes, which naturally entail delays. To be sure, the production team wants Bridgerton fans to love it just as much as they have in the past, so they want to get it right.”

The romance between Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton), the brother of her best friend, is expected to be the main focus of season three.

The next installment will be intensely focused on their timeline, similar to how season one focused on Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) and the Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page), and season two on Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley) and Viscount Anthony (Jonathan Bailey), even though their love story has been hinted at in previous episodes.

Although the specifics of this “dark” plot are unknown, the show is renowned for having multiple side stories that support the main narrative.

As we have seen in seasons one and two, Lord Featherington’s gambling problem caused financial difficulties for Penelope’s family. Penelope’s mother, Portia, consequently pressured her daughters to marry wealthy suitors.

Another plot point in season two concerned Viscount Anthony’s father passing away from a bee sting. To be honest, we cannot imagine anything evil happening to the Bridgerton crew, so hopefully, the producers will share our sentiments.

Bridgerton’s Season 3 Will Premiere in Two Parts in the Spring of 2024

In 2024, “Bridgerton” will make a comeback on Netflix. The period drama’s third season will be available to stream in two parts. On May 16, the first four episodes will air, and on June 13, the remaining four will be available for streaming.

Netflix also unveiled a video that combined previously unreleased footage with TikToks and social media posts from fans who were itching to see what the upper classes of Regency-era London had to offer.

When did production on Bridgerton Season 3 begin?

“Filming for Bridgerton Season 3 has officially started,” she states, then she turns to face Newton and inquires, “Are you coming in?” Readers of Julia Quinn’s Bridgerton novels will love this lighthearted discussion because it references Polin’s famously seductive carriage scene from Romancing Mister Bridgerton. “I am unable to affirm or refute anything from [Season 3].

However, based on what I have heard, people will be overjoyed.” Coughlan informed Tudum in May.

Many fans are enthralled by the Bridgerton trailer. However, the trailer for Bridgerton Season 3 has not been released by Netflix yet.

It is difficult to predict when we can anticipate getting a decent look at the upcoming season, as we do not even have an official release date yet.

In July 2022, Netflix did post a brief clip announcing that the new season was in production.

With Bridgerton’s large ensemble cast, there will be some significant changes; some beloved actors will remain, while others will leave.

Since all of the Bridgerton siblings have confirmed their returns for Season 3, most of them will be back in the ton.
