Eastenders has won three TV Quick Awards thanks to the Danielle Jones/Ronnie Mitchell storyline. The plot ended explosively in April when the bar maid's long-lost daughter was killed in a car accident just as Ronnie discovered her true identity. As well as winning Best Storyline, Lauren Crace, who played Danielle, won Best Newcomer, and the show as a whole won Best Soap. Other winners on the night were Ant and Dec who were honoured with an Outstanding Contribution Award and also Best Entertainment Show for Saturday Night Takeaway.
