BEAUTY BIO:

Round-almond eyes, blessed with long lashes but not-so-blessed with oily lids that send shadows slipping and sliding.

WHAT I USUALLY LOOK FOR IN AN EYESHADOW:

I'm a bit of a basic b*tch when it comes to eyeshadows. Urban Decay's Naked 3 is my go to; I like browns, peaches and rose golds, anything warm really, to bring out my blue eyes. I mostly stick to mattes to try and combat my oily lids.

FENTY LIQUID EYE SHIMMER REVIEW:

Liquid eyeshadows scare the eff out of me. My oily lids have never allowed me to partake in trends like the glossy eye or wet-look metallic shadow, so I've always just played it safe with powder eyeshadow palettes.

But when I had the Fenty collection in my hot little hands, I saw Island Bling and just thought, "those are MY colours". It has 'Summer Fling' at one end, a chocolate brown shade with a shimmery bronze running through it, and 'Reignbow' at the other, an extremely glittery and pigmented gold. Name a more iconic colour duo, I'll wait.

I applied 'Summer Fling' across each eyelid, swiping it on with the applicator and then using my fingers to blend. I then tried to layer Reignbow over the top in the inner-half of my eyes, but found the two colours just blended together and the gold became semi-lost. Possibly something that happens with all liquid shadows, but I was oblivious. To be fair, 'Summer Fling' didn't need any help, I'd use both colours quite happily on their own because the shimmer and glitter adds dimension already.

So instead of layering the colours together, I took gold 'Reignbow' and used it to line underneath my eye. I couldn't use the applicator for this as it was too thick; I used a more precise eyeliner brush and it worked really well.

The dry down isn't powdery, sticky or tight-feeling; it's weightless and completely non-irritating, exactly what you want for the eyes. The shadow doesn't budge once it's dry and lasted a few hours before any signs of creasing. When I did need to top-up, it couldn't have been easier and you can easily add more of the same colour on top. Just be careful of fall out because it's a very glittery, metallic product that can make its way to your cheeks if you're not careful.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

I was pretty chuffed with this product in the end. I was impressed at how little it slid being a liquid, but that's because the dry down is SO good and stays put. I love how the intense shimmer gives it that metallic, glossy eye-look, without actually being wet, so oily-lid girls like me can try their luck at the trend.
