Over time, however, she realized she couldn't sit idly while waiting for them to go away; she had to take action. "After leaving QVC and realizing that now it was up to me if something happened," she said. "Then I started to educate myself more and take more control of my destiny."

Even though she would "lock" herself into her house, she admitted to the talk show hostess that she never felt entirely safe inside her own walls, which is part of the reasons she regrets not taking action sooner.

"It was something that impacted me to a greater extent than I would have liked," she admitted before adding, "I don't think anyone should be afraid in their own home. That's not acceptable."
