The economic impact of RAF Lyneham on it's local community will be the focus of a meeting in Lyneham tonight. (25/1/12)

At the meeting, there will be discussion of how the council and MOD are working together to plan for the future of military and civilian communities. It will cover the following issues

  • The future defence training centre at Lyneham
  • The intergration of the Lyneham Defence Techinical Training Centre with the local community.
  • Wiltshire Council's support for the local community.

Chairman of the Royal Wooton Bassett and Cricklade Area Board said “This will be an important meeting which will update people about RAF Lyneham and its future. Lyneham and its surrounding communities are a clear example of how the council and MOD can support both the civilian and military communities in working together for the benefit of everyone. All are welcome to this meeting which is a good opportunity to find out more about local issues which affect them.'

Captain John Sutherland RN, chief of staff, defence technical training change programme, will speak about the new defence training centre and be able to answer questions.
