After nearly two decades at Def Jam, Jeezy has announced his departure from the label along with news that an independent double album will be arriving later this week through his CTE New World imprint.
The Atlanta native revealed that the album will be titled “I Might Forgive… But I Don’t Forget,” and will be out on Nov. 3. “I Might Forgive” is set to include production from Ricky Polo, ATL Jacob, Cubeatz, Hendrix and more, while “But I Don’t Forget” will be entirely helmed by production collective J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League. Jeezy has had a long history working with the latter team, collaborating for his 2005 debut “Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101” and numerous follow-up projects.
Jeezy’s departure from Def Jam marks a turning point for the rap vet, whose first studio album was released via Def Jam South. Every album since then has been released through the imprint in tandem with CTE, including his last solo album “The Recession 2” which dropped in 2020. That same year, he re-upped his deal with Def Jam and signed on as a consultant.
This past August, Jeezy made a foray into the publishing world with his first book “Adversity for Sale: Ya Gotta Believe,” which explored how he overcame the obstacles in his quest to success in business and music.
