#ThatAwkwardMomentWhen you have the sit through a sexual education class at school… TAUGHT BY YOUR OWN MOTHER. Who then shares her own experiences with you and all your red-faced, giggling mates.

… Is exactly the situation Liam Hemsworth found himself in all those years ago.

The Australian Hunger Games star told Jay Leno during an interview on his Tonight Show that he was so embarrassed by the experience, that he fled the class his mother Leonie was teaching in horror.

"It's exactly what you think it's like-really uncomfortable," he told the chat show host.

"You're talking about chlamydia and STIs and every other sexually transmitted disease you can get. It was interesting until she starts talking about her own personal experiences.

"That's when I just headed out the door. 'I'll see ya later, mum! I'll see ya at home!'"

But did he then get stitched up for truancy?

"I think out of embarrassment she passed me, but I honestly got so uncomfortable I wouldn't turn up to most of her classes," he said.

"My mum's such a nice person that she would allow that kind of thing to happen. I was a naughty kid.

"No child should have to be taught sex education by their mum!"

Agreed.

Hemsworth also did a good bit of promotional gushing over his Catching Fire co-star Jennifer Lawrence, too.

"She's obviously one of the best actresses I've ever worked with," he said.

"She's incredible on set. She's an absolute maniac in the best way possible; there's no filter-she says whatever she wants, anytime she wants."

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is out on 21 November 2013.
