At least one person has died in a motorway pile-up involving more than 30 cars.

Fire crews, police and air and road ambulances rushed to the M40 between junctions 9 and 10, near Bicester in Oxfordshire, just before 7.50am after 33 vehicles were involved in a crash.

Thames Valley Police is continuing to investigate a fatal collision on the M40 in Oxfordshire (14/2) in which 33 vehicles were involved.
Police were called at 7.50am yesterday to a report of a multi-vehicle collision on the northbound carriageway between junctions 9 and 10.
A 65-year-old man from Woking, Surrey, died at the scene. One man, who was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in a critical condition, is now in a stable condition and remains in hospital.
Two further people remain in hospital, both in stable conditions.
Senior investigating officer Sgt Ashley Hannibal, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “An investigation in to this large-scale collision, in which a man sadly lost his life, was launched and is continuing.
“The scene is in the process of being digitally reconstructed to enable investigating officers to establish the positions of the vehicles involved and to piece together the circumstances which resulted in the collision.
“I would like to continue to appeal for witnesses to the collision and to anyone who saw what happened and who has not already spoken to the police, to call us on our non-emergency number 101.
“Witnesses who have left their details with police will be contacted in due course so that their accounts can be obtained.”

Thames Valley Police confirmed one person has died, another sustained life-threatening injuries and a further six were seriously injured.
Another 35-45 had minor injuries.
The motorway was closed northbound between the junctions, while a couple of southbound lanes were shut along the same stretch.
A South Central Ambulance spokeswoman said: "It is quite a major collision. We were called at 7.48am to reports of a multiple road traffic collision on the M40, junctions 9 to 10 northbound.
"I understand that there are about 30 vehicles involved. We are currently assessing in excess of 30 patients.
"We have a lot of resources on the scene - ambulances, our helicopter ambulance, rapid response vehicles, our doctor and our hazardous area response team.
"Fire and police are also at the scene."
Ch Insp Henry Parsons of Thames Valley Police Roads Policing said: "The cause of this collision is under investigation, however, we believe that fog played a major part.
"This has been an extraordinarily large collision, we have not had a collision on this scale for many years in Thames Valley and one man has sadly lost his life.
"We are working as quickly as possible to clear the area and get the traffic moving again. I would like to thank the public for their patience while we undertake our important investigative work before a full reopening of the road is possible.
