Sad news for fans of The Vicar of Dibley and Only Fools and Horses - Roger Lloyd-Pack, who viewers will remember as Trigger and Owen Newitt, has died aged 69.

The actor passed away on Wednesday night from pancreatic cancer, his agent confirmed this morning.

Lloyd-Pack was beloved for his two most famous TV roles, roadsweeper Trigger in Only Fools and Horses and local farmer Owen Newitt in the Vicar of Dibley.

He was also an acclaimed Shakespearean actor, and appeared as Barty Crouch Sr in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

Lloyd-Pack previously described his role as Trigger as "both a blessing and a curse", saying "It's extraordinary to me as an actor to find oneself in a sitcom that's been successful and goes on being successful...I can't go anywhere without anyone going on about it."

Several stars tweeted their sadness at the news this morning, including James Corden and Simon Pegg.
