UFC commentator Joe Rogan might not be a big fan of Late Night shows. The artificial laugh and the scripted applause don’t appeal to the popular TV presenter. Not only did he voice his distaste for these shows, but also exposed them for staging the laughter on his popular podcast. The famed podcaster, who recently realized his ambition project in Austin, also performs comedy sets for a living. While the color commentator started his career as a standup comic at 21, he took a detour to keep himself afloat in the industry. However, as a staunch supporter of organic and unadulterated comedy, he holds a particular outlook for the rehearsed Late Night shows starring Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, and Stephen Colbert.

Notably, the 55-year-old sat down with Stephen Findeisen in ep. #1951 of The Joe Rogan Experience. In one segment of the podcast, the guest had some hot takes about the Late Night shows. The UFC personnel seconded his opinion and recalled watching them do monologues with no audience.

Joe Rogan blasts the ‘cringe’ Late Night shows

The comedian couldn’t wrap his head around the development and expressed apprehensions over its success of it. Thus, he said, “There’s not a f*cking chance in hell that this is funny or gonna work.”

“And when you see those flat corny Late Night monologue jokes with no audience, those are so f*cking cringy. And you’re also dealing with a lot of these people that are not stand-up comics,” the host added later on.

Following this, the Newark native pointed out that the hosts didn’t understand how to deliver the jokes and also they lacked the chops. What the hosts ended up doing was reading off a teleprompter.

Similarly, a bunch of joke writers provided the hosts with jokes and they would play those to the audience. Subsequently, the audience’s laughter is appropriated as feedback and they used the same to realize how to do that.

Rogan believes the Late Night shows aren’t what they used to be

Afterward, the former Fear Factor host explained the shows that existed today are a mere shelf of the original shows.

Thus, he continued and stated, “They don’t even exist anymore. There’s only a handful of those shows. So like if you see, like how many talk shows are there? There’re very few, yes, [Stephen] Colbert. There’s Jimmy Kimmel, Fallon.”

Lastly, Rogan took a dig at the rehearsed nature of the shows. Hence, he stated, “They’re [warm-up guys] like, ‘okay explain to the people. Okay, when Jimmy comes out, I want a big round of applause. Let’s practice this right now. Ladies and gentlemen, Jimmy Fallon, YEAH.”
